dLab helps Olofström Kraft AB to troubleshoot
In 2020, Dlaboratory Sweden AB (publ) integrated the dInsight Analytics Platform with the existing NIS-system from Mirakelbolaget AB and Tyréns AB that Olofström Kraft AB uses, and created an easy-to-use solution that can pin down a fault in the grid with very high accuracy.
Energy company Olofströms Kraft AB owns more than 2000 kilometers of distribution lines in Blekinge and Skåne in southern Sweden, with about 13 000 end customers. In the ambition to create a more digitalized and sustainable grid with high reliability, Olofströms Kraft AB initiated an integration between two systems: the NIS-system from Mirakelbolaget AB and Tyréns AB, with dLab’s analytics platform, which gathers and analyses grid data. Since the beginning of 2021 the system is up and running.
– Our experience with dLab’s system is very positive. With the help of dInsight Analytics platform we improve our grid monitoring, prevent outages, and reduce outage times. We see great potential in the possibility of sharing information between dLab and our NIS software from Mirakelbolaget/Tyréns so that probable fault locations could be identified directly in the operating mode map, says Martin Arnell, grid analyst engineer at Olofströms Kraft AB.
In December 2021 Olofström received a lot of snow and Olofström Kraft AB had a lot of help from dLabs dInsight Analytics platform. According to Olofströms Kraft AB, the integration could save up to several hours of troubleshooting time for a single incident.
dLab’s system provides information about which feeder is affected and the fault current. Based on that, distance to the fault can be calculated. In addition, information from fault indicators placed in a few strategic places on the feeder is used to verify the fault location in cases with more complex feeder topologies.
The result is presented in an operation mode map. This removes the guesswork about where to start troubleshooting which saves time and resources. Below is an example of calculated fault location.
