Ampacimon and dLab sign a MOU

Belgian Ampacimon and Swedish Dlaboratory Sweden AB (publ) sign a Memorandum-of-Understanding (MoU) with the ambition of jointly providing the power sector with unique outage management capabilities.

The MoU focuses on synergizing the analytics from GridVisor developed by Ampacimon and the dInsight Analytics Platform developed by dLab to improve localization and classification of grid disturbances in the distribution grid. Further, the companies aim to together provide a more effective outage management tool to not only allow to restore outages faster, but also to provide means to prevent failures through proactive activities.

Ampacimon is a Belgium-based technology company providing utilities with data-driven platforms to optimize their electricity grids. In particular, Ampacimon has established a worldwide leading position in Dynamic Line Rating, a sensors and software solution to deliver as much as 30% extra transmission capacity on existing lines. Ampacimon also offers a range of grid condition monitoring and fault monitoring solutions to help operators optimize their assets’ availability.

- This partnership with dLab offers large opportunities for our respective customers to combine the best of both worlds: on-line, sensors-based monitoring for accuracy and geographical precision, with great analytics for powerful decision aid tools, says Frédéric Vassort CEO of Ampacimon

dLab provides a platform that automatically analyses grid disturbances in the medium voltage grid from a primary substation perspective. The platform detects even the smallest deviations which are further classified through an automatic waveform analysis followed by a contextualization. The solution is substation agnostic meaning it can be deployed in any substation.

- Outage management is on everyone’s lips, and we see an urgent need for effective solutions. A distribution grid has a complex topology and by combining the measurement from our solution by the measurement from Ampacimon, we see a great synergy effect and a possibility for a full-scale offering. Something we aim to further demonstrate in live environments, says Henrik Winberg, COO at dLab.
