dLab – where the smart grid meets the green revolution
The UN SDG No. 7 clearly states a global ambition to secure access to sustainable, affordable, reliable and renewable energy sources. The electrification of society is moving at an ever-faster pace and the energy transition is here to stay. Italy is now taking important steps towards this future by investing almost €50 bn in the green revolution and ecological transition.

With increased electrification, and more and more power electronics being connected to the grid, comes increased dependency on a reliable supply of power, and thereby increased vulnerability. Regardless of whether the power supply in the municipality is affected by low quality, interruptions or reduced capacity, the consequences will have an increasing impact with more severe consequences. Not only will vital societal functions and industries be affected, but also everyone’s daily life.

The introduction of solar PV, wind power, electrical vehicles and battery storage has raised concerns not only around traditional power quality issues such as harmonics, but also around the introduction of more reactive power flows and the need for more effective reaction to various faults in the grid – avoid outages.
This is a new situation with new opportunities, and new challenges to be aware of.
dLab exists because we believe in, and want to create, the opportunity to support this much-needed shift without necessarily increasing the degree of vulnerability. We are passionate about helping grid operators to secure that your lamp is lit whenever you want, also tomorrow. This is done using a unique method developed together with the power sector and which has been proven for 10+ years, providing clear and tangible values. We give you Power to Act!
